The Color Purple by Alice Walker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
What could I possibly say about The Color Purple that hasn’t already been said? I’ve seen the movie several times, but had never read the book. The Great American Read gave me that little push that I needed and I’m grateful that it did.
If I could give this book a thousand stars I would, it’s that wonderful. It’s a beautiful story that pulled at my heartstrings in a way that few books have. It’s gripping, powerful, raw, honest and riveting. The author filled this book with glorious, lovable and powerful characters who grew and matured as the story progressed.
I don’t know what more there is to say, except that if you haven’t read The Color Purple I urge you to do so as soon as possible.
