My Funny Valentine is another short story from Barbara Cool Lee about the quirky and appealing characters of Pajaro Bay. This is the second little book I’ve read in this series and I was just as pleased as I was with A Christmas Miracle in Pajaro Bay.
Once again, the author has woven an entertaining and engaging story in just thirty-nine pages. Just like A Christmas Miracle in Pajaro Bay, My Funny Valentine is a standalone story filled with romance, drama, villains and likable characters (and one very unlikable character). Ms. Lee touches on a few hot button topics that are sure to elicit strong emotions – animal cruelty and domestic violence to name two. I found myself despising the offender and hoping he’d be stopped before he could do anymore damage.
I really enjoy this author’s writing style. She’s able to pack a lot of narrative into a few short pages. These short books can be read in no time, yet readers come away with a wonderfully crafted tale!
